I hate the whole sneaking around to be gay trope and the discover they are gay by interrupting/intruding trope BUT the context of why they are not broadcasting it to the world makes sense (you don’t have time for kisses when dodging demon attacks and assassins, plus, the hierarchy) so I’m not super bothered by it, but others might be. like, i know he’s a bad dude who wants to slaughter everyone….but he has great one-liners during battle and he smirks and is kind of funny….so……Īlso only fucking Julie is talented enough to simultaneously have me thirsting for an immortal demon while wanting him to die to free my son (Tatsumi).Įh, i do have a minor complaint: There is a gay couple in this book (I got gay vibes from them in the last book so PUMPED for the confirmation) and all of their “together” scenes came from Yukemo being a creeper and intruding on private moments without them knowing (if we had one of these dude’s having a POV and the same scenes it would be great and less voyeuristic). Suki who the fuck knew the girl from chapter one in the first book would actually play such a role Reika is thinking every 30 seconds i don’t get paid enough to deal with this shit.ĭaisuke is, obviously, still obsessed with his honor while crafting ballads and channeling that suburban dad energy (Yumeko is his adopted child, fight me). Okame, as per usual, is the constant comedic relief (he is the Sokka of this travel group). Yumeko is still hopelessly, hilariously naive, and cannot detect sarcasm. ALSO we get a POV from a certain demon….which was positutely delightful. I am so happy that Julie decided to label the POVs because that drove me fucking bonkers last time. Journey books FTW. You can literally just throw random af shit into the plot and it works because ya’ll are traveling and surprises always spring up while traveling.ĪLSO WHO/WHAT THE FUCK IS LORD SEIGETSU?!?!? “So, if we’re finished making vows and being honorably dramatic, perhaps we can leave?”
